Sponsored Sleepout in aid of Dacorum Emergency Night Shelter

I am going to be taking part in a Sponsored Sleepout in aid of the Dacorum Emergency Night Shelter. It's on the night of 4th December 2009 in the grounds of St Albans Abbey.

The cause is an extremely important one. In 2008-9, 154 different individuals used the night shelter, making 2,789 visits between them. The numbers of visits is going up year on year.

As the DENS homepage (www.dens.org.uk/aboutdens/) says:

"DENS is an independent Charity which began in 1998 with a temporary Night Shelter that operated in rotation around seven local churches for five years, providing shelter during the winter months. DENS became a permanent operation in 2003 and is a community response to the local needs of homeless people, the vision in action of several concerned individuals who cared enough to want to help solve the problem of homelessness in Dacorum."
