Hemel Campaigner Chosen as Liberal Democrat by-election candidate6.47.00pm GMT Thu 18th Feb 2010
A by-election in Adeyfield West has been caused by the sad death of Cllr Reid. Steve Wilson stands a strong chance of winning the by-election, after the Lib Dems' Ron Tindall won the county council seat last summer. Steve has lived in Hemel since he was a small child, and he is familiar with Adeyfield. His wife also teaches at Adeyfield school. Steve said "Adeyfield was Hemel New Town's first neighbourhood. It has good shops, library, post office and community facilities and I want to fight to keep and improve these services" He adds "The closure of the public toilets by the Conservative-run Council has caused discomfort for many. If elected I will request the Council re-opens them." Steve, a recently retired teacher spent 13 years working at Astley Cooper School. He is also a keen sportsman and chairman of a local cricket club. Steve can be contacted by email steve@hhlibdems.org.uk
