Leavers Should Get a Sense of Proportion About the Size and Importance of the UK Economy in Global Terms.
Leavers were fond of telling us that we are the fifth largest economy in the world. Indeed, but did they look at the size of the first three?

The Reach Free School planning application has now been submitted . It has not yet been validated so it is not yet available for public access. ………………………………………………... We have been pressing HS2 for some time to have an open day event here to inform local residents about the plans, etc. Although the main impact of the construction will be on West Hyde and Maple Cross the whole Rickmansworth area will be significantly affected. HS2 has decided to hold the event in the middle of August. When TRDC pointed out that holiday time would rule out a large number of people HS2 agreed to hold a second day in September. The dates are Thursday 11th August 2.00-8.00pm, and Saturday 17th September 11.00am-3.00pm at Maple Cross Community Centre, on the corner of Hornhill / Longcroft Rds. This an opportunity to find out more about the project, talk to experts about the environmental impact, engineering, construction, property, etc, to see maps and plans and ask questions. Do Come Along. …………………………………………..........................
With two gains, two holds and progress everywhere it really has been a good week. However, the star result had to be a Liberal Democrat GAIN in Newlyn & Goonhavern (Cornwall) from the Conservatives. Both the Tory and the Mebyon Kernow leaving the Lib Dems ahead with 24% in a fragmented field.
After a close result last time this ward was fought, the Liberal Democrats have now gained the seat. Let not the headline - composed for accuracy - detract from the first class campaign by John Birch, the Liberal Democrat candidate in a by election in Bridgetown Ward for a seat on South Hams District Council. John was ably assisted by Cllr Robert Vint who is already a South Hams District Councillor, as well as being on Devon County Council. Robert recently joined the Liberal Democrats from the Green Party.
